55-ALIVE ACTIVITIES FOR AUGUST 2026

AUGUST ACTIVITIES – WE ARE NOT MEETING IN THE FELLOWSHIP HALL BUT HAVE ACTIVITIES TO DO SO WE CAN BE TOGETHER.
Please note: “Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise”, the following is what we’ve got set up. Circumstances may change so your flexibility and understanding are appreciated! I will highlight any changes in an email if the change becomes necessary.

There are handouts for these activities in the flyer rack at the church. If you didn't sign up at 55 and would like to participate, please contact me 541-890-2915 or email ditom18@gmail.com I appreciate having a general idea of numbers and we want to make sure we wait for folks!

Hard to believe August is almost halfway done!

Tuesday, the 18th is the Ice Cream Social - This is the, Eat Dessert First, Ice Cream Social at Kareen's house, 1501 Minear, 5:00pm. Bring your favorite ice cream and/or topping, or a different dessert to go with ice cream. Bring your chair, and something to drink. We have people to help set up at 9:00am. We can always use a few more, so if you are available, contact me. Many hands make light work. Jeff Bates will be providing the worship music. It will be a sweet time!!

Thursday, the 20th-Sunday, the 23rd: Camping Fish Lake (owned by a Christian family). Spots are dwindling if you are thinking of camping or RVing. I think there are a few cabins left as well. Please contact the resort for cabins and some spots they may have for camping. Doe Point campground is close but most of those are first come, first serve. Check Recreation.gov. Please feel free to join us for the day Friday and/or Saturday. We have some activities planned (although time is not set and won't be - just whenever we want to) SATURDAY, THE 22ND, 11:00 JOIN US FOR LUNCH AT THE FISH LAKE LODGE. You can order off the menu or bring your own lunch. Please let me know if you plan to attend. Then let me know if you will order off the menu. I have reservations and need to call by Monday with any changes. If you signed up at 55 I have you down.

Tuesday, the 25th is at Chuck and Susie's clubhouse, 10a-12p. Balance class, singing worship songs, eating lunch (please bring your own lunch), and essential oil information afterwards. Come for some, or come for all. No need to sign up for the balance class portion but, please, contact Janice to sign up for the essential oil part - she's going to make some recipes using essential oils and would like to know how much to make.

Saturday the 29th is a 3-mile walk in Cathedral Hills on the Wild Rose Loop Trail. We are going to meet at 10:00 at this point. If our weather heats up again we will meet at 9:30. We will have a good idea by the 25th of August to make a final decision of arrival time. Stay tuned.
Directions: Take 238, either direction. Turn onto Espey Road and go straight past the golf course for about 1/2 mile. There is a sharp curve to the left. STAY LEFT and don't go straight. After you curve to the left the trailhead parking is directly ahead. We will have lunch afterwards in Grant Pass. Our choices are: Wild River, Growler Guys, Cartwright's Taprock Northwest Grill.
